maybe this will help

Just got the Luis Bunuel film, Un Chien Andalou. This may help today seem better ... bring in some joy, right? I thought Saturdays (especially when it's a day off from work) were supposed to be nice ...

Hey there spanky - did you know that after Bunuel and Dali finished that, it impressed some French production company enough to offer the pair $ to make a feature film together. Just as they were beginning production, Dali bailed. Bunuel carried on with full visionary control, so we get scorpions, starving bandits, a cow in a bed, cries of sexual pleasure, and Jesus as we've never seen him. Yeeeaaaah!

I remember reading somewhere that the first showing -- the premiere in Paris of this film incited riots ... a woman was trampled by a horse in the street. I will re-research this.

It looks like it was L'Age d'Or, not Un Chien Anadalou, that incited a riot in Paris. It was then promptly banned and sealed away. L'Age d'Or is also the feature film Dali bailed on. I can see this film still inciting something ... if not riots, definitely censorship.
